About the Project
In 2024, the University of Ghana advanced its campus enhancement and beautification efforts through the
successful refurbishment and commissioning of the Main Gate Fountain. The project, inaugurated by the ViceChancellor, Prof. Nana Aba Appiah Amfo, sought to revitalise one of the University’s most symbolic entry
points while promoting a climate-smart and aesthetically appealing environment. The upgraded fountain
contributes to a more welcoming campus atmosphere and supports ongoing initiatives aimed at improving the
University’s landscape, ambience, and environmental sustainability.
As part of the broader initiative, a fundraising campaign was also launched to restore the Balme Library
Fountain. This upcoming project aims to create a calm, visually appealing, and environmentally responsive
space befitting the library’s stature as the intellectual hub of the University. The intervention seeks to enhance
the surrounding learning atmosphere, provide a serene space for study and reflection, and reinforce the
University’s commitment to environmental consciousness and campus transformation.
