About-Us

Overview

The Institutional Advancement Directorate (InAD) is a key strategic unit at the University of Ghana, established in 2017. It supports various university units, including Colleges and Schools, in fulfilling their mandates. Directly under the Office of the Vice-Chancellor, InAD is led by a Director and operates through four key sub-units: Alumni Relations, Marketing and Communication, Major Donor Fundraising, and Projects.

• Alumni Relations: The Alumni Relations Unit connects with all alumni of the University globally in terms of the University's developmental activities. The Unit stays abreast with and tracks the activities of the alumni with the aim of building a good relationship with them and leveraging this relationship to partner alumni in advancing the interest of the University.

• Marketing and Communication: This Unit markets the University’s activities and projects, and its good image to the world. The Unit liaises with other key units of the University such as the Public Affairs Directorate, International Programmes Office, and Quality Assurance Directorate to undertake these tasks.

• Major Donor Fundraising: InAD also reaches out to large organisations, alumni and other individuals for funding for the University’s projects. In addition to the support it garners from alumni, the InAD also engages other corporate bodies who are considered friends of the University.

• Projects: This Unit in InAD is focused on projects, working with corporate bodies and individuals who seek to give to the University or make specific contributions to the University through the execution of Special projects. The Unit also works with the Office of Research, Innovation, and Development (ORID), the three African Centres of Excellence being the West African Centre for Crop Improvement (WACCI), West Africa Centre for Cell Biology of Infectious Pathogens (WACCBIP) and the West Africa Genetic Medicine Centre (WAGMC) in promoting the growth and development of the University.
