The Institutional Advancement Directorate (InAD) has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening alumni engagement by partnering with the UG Students’ Financial Aid Office to organise the maiden Graduate Transition and Alumni Engagement Programme for final-year financial aid beneficiaries.
The programme was designed to support students as they prepare to transition from university life to the next phase of their personal and professional journeys. Through discussions on employment, entrepreneurship, further education, and professional development, participants gained insights into the opportunities and responsibilities that come with life after graduation.

Beyond career preparation, the initiative encouraged students to develop transferable skills, expand their professional networks, and appreciate the value of remaining connected to the University of Ghana through its global alumni community. Participants were also introduced to the critical role alumni play in advancing the University's mission through mentorship, volunteerism, advocacy, and philanthropy.
A key highlight of the programme was the enthusiasm of students to give back to the University and support future generations of learners. Many participants expressed interest in mentoring current students, sharing career guidance, creating opportunities for young graduates, and contributing to the University's development as their careers progress.

The programme underscored the importance of engaging students before graduation and positioning them as future alumni partners from the outset. It also reinforced the value of structured graduate transition initiatives in helping students navigate change while fostering a sense of lifelong belonging to the University community.
Speaking on the significance of the initiative, InAD noted that alumni engagement is most effective when relationships are cultivated early, creating a continuous cycle of support, success, and impact that benefits both graduates and the institution.

The Directorate commended the Students’ Financial Aid Office for spearheading the initiative and acknowledged the support of the University of Ghana Alumni Association, North America, whose contribution helped make the programme possible.
Through partnerships such as this, the University of Ghana continues to strengthen the pathway from student success to alumni impact, nurturing graduates who remain connected, engaged, and committed to giving back to their alma mater.
